FOOTMAD BIDS Good RidDANCE to 2014
Ready for a new year? FOOTMAD (Friends of Old Time Music and Dance) is welcoming 2015 with “Good RidDANCE 2014”. The family friendly, alcohol free New Years Eve party will be held at the Columbia Gas Auditorium, 1700 MacCorkle Ave SE from 8:30 pm – 12: 30 pm on Wednesday, Dec 31st with an introduction to contra dance from 8:30-9:00 pm.
Joe Dobbs and Friends will provide the music, and Warren Doyle, of the Appalachian Folk School in Tennessee, will lead an old-time dance featuring Appalachian mixers and contra dancing. The band will also provide music for other dance styles such as swing and waltz.
Ample hors d’oeuvres, table seating, a “Chinese raffle”, and a midnight ball drop by local artist Rick Gallagher will round out the evening for dancers and non-dancers alike, which FOOTMAD hopes will raise money for their yearly activity schedule of concerts, dances, and jam sessions.
Admission is $15 adult, $7 students, $40 family. Children under 13, VISTA workers and full time community volunteers are free. Reservations can be made at www.footmad.org.
